How was cuenca, Ecuador? Is crime really that bad to Canadians. My husband and I want to retire in a house there on the beach. Do you have any suggestions for us?
Hi Jane – actually Cuenca is nowhere near the beach! It’s a colonial city in the Ecuadorian highlands, about 2500m above sea level. As for being safe for Canadians specifically I’m afraid I wouldn’t know, but I lived there for a few months and felt pretty safe. It’s probably best for you and your husband to visit Cuenca and see if you like it before actively settling down there 🙂 Best of luck with your potential move!
